Beginners Introduction to Horses: Day Camps
This series of day camps take place at Crescent Valley Stables in Krestova. We aim to make these camps educational and fun.
Introduction to Horses (very beginner)
- Ages 5-8
Beginner Riders (walk/trot)
- Ages 7-9
- Ages 10-12
Beginner camps are 2 days duration.
Children are paired up and each pair is responsible for the feeding, well being and management of a horse. Camps include daily riding lessons and stable management instruction (how to look after a horse) and fun activities such as games on and off horse back, scavenger hunts, etc.
Horse camp hours are 9.00am to 3.00pm daily.
Children require clothing and hats suitable for current weather conditions. Insect repellent. Food, snacks and drink for each day. Helmets and boots with a heel.
Fees: $70 per day includes the lesson horse.
Summer Clinics at Winstar Equestrian Centre
Summer clinics take place at Winstar Equestrian Centre which is located in the Passmore area of the Slocan Valley. Winstar is owned and operated by Tracy Bowles and Bob Wright. The Centre offers 150+ acres of equestrian space, including a large main arena, a jump field, a cross country course, stabling and paddocks for 20 visiting horses, a great trail system, camping sites and beach, all located along the fabulous Slocan River.
Several camps are offered each summer, as well as adult weekend getaway clinics.
Regular Riding Clinics are for all ages and they aim to be educational and fun filled. Clinics are 3 days in length. The price includes 1 riding lesson daily, 1 theory session, 1 afternoon horsey activity, stabling, and access to the trail system. Camping is available on site.
Adult Weekend Getaway Clinics also aim to be educational and FUN. All attendees must be over 19 years of age. The price includes 1 riding lesson daily, 1 afternoon horsey activity, a potluck supper around the camp fire, stabling, and access to the trail system. Camping is available on site.
Horse Trials Camp is only held once a year & is 5 days long. Participants must have some jumping experience. Participants receive dressage and stadium jumping lessons and coaching on the X Country course. Riders then take part in a mock Horse Trials event. This format provides riders with an insight into what occurs at a real Horse Trials.
